Two Week Review February 7-21

I know, I failed to post last week. Please, forgive me. I did not use my time wisely. I thought I’d be able to do my usual but life tripped me up. After being gone all weekend I had planned to blog Monday the 17th. Then my kids were sick and then I was under the weather…sigh. You definitely need a plan for when things get out of hand.

But, here it is Friday again and I’ve a few photos to share with y’all! The girls were busy playing make believe. I’ll be honest I am not looking forward to them growing out of this stage. I will encourage them to use their imaginations for the rest of their lives.

Whomever pulls the sword from the stone shall rule the land.
ALL HAIL THE QUEEN!

Valentine’s Day! ❤❤❤

These two…

That’s it for this week. I hope you enjoyed the photos and next week brings you joy and peace.

Love, B.

Week in Review Feb 1-6

It is February! The month of hearts, love, flowers, and candy. The month of all things pink and red. So what have I decided to do for this colorful month? Shoot only in black and white. Crazy, right!?! Why would I do that? Well, when I was in college taking photography classes we only used black and white film. I know, I totally dated myself. There are some who will argue that black and white is old fashioned and in a way it is. It is also dramatic and beautiful. Not everything should be shot in black and white. It takes practice and thought. So, I am going to use this month to really think about the subject. Not just take the photograph because I need one for the blog or because it’s a cute pic, but to really see what I am looking at through the viewfinder. There is a quote I love,

“When you photograph people in color, you photograph their clothes. But when you photograph people in Black and white, you photograph their souls!”

― Ted Grant

So, in this month of love I will be taking photos of what I love the most and doing it with my heart. And a mind on the art of black and white photography.

We are so fortunate to live within walking distance of our local library. Once a week we spend an hour or so looking through books. Playing checkers or learning new skills on the computer. We’ve been doing this since before the girls could read.

That’s it for this week. I hope you enjoyed the photos and next week brings you joy and peace.

Love, B.

Week in Review Jan 24-31

Last year for her 9th birthday my daughter received a really cool gift. Which was educational and hands on. Always, a good combination.

But it sat and sat for almost an year. On Monday we watched a National Geographic program as part of our homeschool day. This must have jogged a memory. For on Tuesday before she even said, “good morning” my daughter was setting up her “dig”. I convinced her to have breakfast before she started. Afterwards, she and her little sister went to work.

The great archeologist documenting her find.

As usual we spent a day with my parents. My mom had a fun Valentines craft ready for the girls. Candle wreaths! I am so grateful that we live so close and the girls are able to spend so much time with them. They love hanging out with grandma and watching “old” movies with grandpa.

We have finished the last week of January. The end of the first month of 2020. How quickly time has flown. I can’t believe we are already 31 days into this new year. We have plenty on the calendar for February and I’m sure before we know it, it will be March. I often wonder why time just flows so swiftly without our even really noticing? I swear it was just yesterday that I was posting the first week in review post. I’ve managed four weeks. Fingers crossed I can make it the rest of the 48 weeks of 2020.

So that’s it for this week. I hope you enjoyed the photos. I hope next week brings you joy and peace.

Love, B.

Week in Review Jan 17-23

This week wasn’t as busy as last week. However, I still managed to take a few photos.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day

On Monday for school we studied Martin Luther King Jr. And my eldest took it upon herself to write a little history report to share with her Dad.

The youngest, trying to comprehend not being able to sit wherever you like or go into certain places based solely on skin color. She thinks, “that is so stupid.” I would have to agree.

So what you’re saying….

On Wednesday it was my husband’s birthday. And like I do every year I took some photos of him after work.

I’m really not sure what I’d do without him? And there just aren’t any words to express just how much he has made my life better. He is a wonderful husband, father, friend, and all around great guy!

The Man

Sometime during the week my Mom and I, finally, found the Asian market everyone’s been telling us about. Five Mile International Supermarket is awesome! We didn’t have a list but we still managed to walk out with a few things we just had to have. Next trip we go with a list to make some of our favorites.

Memories of Okinawa right here in Fredericksburg

The girls had to do their laundry and I just thought this was so funny. The youngest tucked her stuffy in before she turned on the washing machine. I must admit that I will miss these little things when the girls are all grown up and don’t need their stuffed companions anymore.

All tucked in and ready to go for a spin.

I tried my hand at some self portraits. This is one thing I struggle with. I hate having my picture taken and I’m terribly embarrassed about taking self portraits. Cell phone selfies are fine, even fun. But self portraits seem so serious and self indulgent. But I know if I’m not comfortable in front of my camera how can I make anyone else. So I hope you all are ready, I’m planning on taking at least one self portrait a month.

So that’s it for this week. I hope you enjoyed the photos. I hope next week brings you joy and peace.

Week in Review Jan 9-16

A very busy week. The girls and I spent most of the week out and about running errands. Part of making sure I can take photos whenever the mood takes me is making sure I have my camera with me at all times. Thank goodness I like a nice big purse. I am, also, trying my hand at more staged photos. So I set up a little studio space on Saturday afternoon. I have been meaning to take some photo’s of my Fire King Jadeite dishes, so I did!

How’s about a cuppa?

Saturday afternoon

The weather was so lovely here that my husband decided to enjoy a cigar on our front porch.

(Smokin’)

On Sunday after Mass the girls and I had an American Heritage Girl function. Unfortunately, I do not have pictures of this event I was running late and forgot my camera…Gasp! I was a bit disappointed but desernened it must have been God’s way of keeping me present in the moment.

Monday came too soon and way too early! But that marathon in October won’t run it’s self. So it’s back to the early morning runs after a long break due to injury.

Tuesday was fun. My mother and I went down to Richmond to do a bit of shopping. It was a gloomy day but these Le Creuset lids brighten up the day.

Wednesday we ran our grocery shopping errands. I came home to discover that 3 of my eggs had broken in transit. But an opportunity for some photos. My youngest helped me put the dishes away before she helped to make dinner.

Thursday the weather was lovely so while Spending some time at the Grandparents the girls scootered and I took pictures around the yard.

That’s all for this week. I hope next week brings you joy and peace.

Love B.
