A Day at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts

On this past Sunday, February 12, 2017, my husband took me and our girls to the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts to see the Jasper Johns and Edvard Munch: Love, Loss, and the Cycle of Life. I have been a huge fan of Edvard Munch since I was a teenager. So when I heard the VMFA was going to have an exhibit of his work I knew I had to go. Fortunately, this was a photo friendly exhibit so I was able to capture my aspiring artists in action. My daughters brought along notebooks so they could sketch some of the pieces they liked best. It was a perfect day! The girls asked lots of questions and took their time looking at the art work. When we were done with the exhibit we wondered around the museum to see what else they had to offer for our day of art!

Feast of the Immaculate Conception

On December 8th catholics celebrate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. My daughters American Heritage Girls troop, which is sponsored by the CCW at Saint Mary’s of the Immaculate Conception, put out luminaria for the evening mass. It was a fun service project and a beautiful sight! Here are a few photo’s I took.

Honoring Those Who Served America

On Saturday October 15, 2016 my daughter’s American Heritage Girl Troop and our brother Trail Life Troop had the privilege of thanking veterans who were visiting the National Museum of the Marine Corps as part of an Honor Flight. To say that it was a moving experience doesn’t do justice to the memorable morning we had. I am sure that the young men and women will not soon forget the morning spent honoring those who served. Also, a special thank you to museum volunteer Trish, who made sure we were in the right place and gathered a few Quantico Marines for the big send off. She was absolutely wonderful!

A Day with Rodin Through the Lens of my Galaxy S5

On Friday, March 11, 2016, I had the pleasure of attending the second to last day of the Rodin exhibit in Richmond at the Virginia Museum of Fine Art. I truly, regret not bringing my camera. A lesson learned the hard way, for sure. Every other time I have gone to an exhibit at the VMFA there has been a strict no photography policy. So of course the one time I assume the rules will be the same I leave my camera at home. I did my best with what I had, my Samsung Galaxy S5. Here are a few of my favorites from that day. Note I forgot to write down all the names of the pieces. It was extremely busy and I was with family so I was unable to linger longer with the pieces.

A Day at the Docks

Back in April I tagged along on a boat buying trip. These are the photographs from that day. Unfortunately, they are still on the look out for a sail boat. Hope I get to tag along next time.

A Day at the Fredericksburg Battlefield

The Civil War is a major tourist draw in Fredericksburg, Virginia. On October 4th PuddleWonderful took a guided tour with a resident Historian, My Dad!
